If nobody knows by now, I'm a big Indiana Pacers fan and I'm stoked for this upcoming draft. There are a lot of prospects that I'm looking at for Indiana. The main guy that I hope and pray the Pacers get is Chris Singleton from Florida State. You might be asking, why Chris Singleton?
Well, he proved himself in the NCAA tournament leading the Seminoles to the Sweet 16. Also, being the best defender in the draft, in my opinion. Then, look at his NBA Combine numbers.
He finished near the top in 3/4 court sprint, vertical, and bench press. Remember this is a big man I'm talking about, not a guard. It seems like I'm talking about Brandon Knight, because Singleton has almost the same stats at the combine as Knight who is projected to go to Utah at number three overall.
How is Chris Singleton not rated higher by most experts, I don't know but it's a travesty. I see him coming to be one of the best players in this draft class. He has a great jump shot, terrific defender, and good in transition.
Also, you maybe asking, why does Indiana want Chris Singleton? Well, you might make a good argument not to take him due to them drafting Paul George last year. I don't see anybody beating out Singeton as a better defender at the small forward or power forward position on Indiana. Singleton could come in right away and be a great 6th man or even start at power forward. He could spread out the floor playing that position over Tyler Hansbrough.
I think Tyler is a better fit being our 6th man, but I'll give him an extra year to prove me wrong. Also, do you trust Josh McRoberts, Mike Dunleavy, or Jeff Foster in the future? You better not, Singleton is easily a perfect fit for the Pacers.
Chris Singleton reminds me a lot of a Gerald Wallace. His defense and offense both are consistent enough to be good in the NBA. How would you not draft a guy who can guard like a hall of famer in Bruce Bowen and plays his game like a guard?
It scares me that Larry Bird would pass up Singleton if he's there for a prospect like Jimmer Fredette. Indiana needs to draft Chris Singleton if he's avaliable he'll be an immediate asset to the team. Don't mess this up Indiana, this is the draft we need to succeed to be a contender deep into the playoffs for a long time.
